Spectacular events staged throughout the year in Dunfermline
Dunfermline Delivers organises high profile events to attract huge crowds into the city centre. Highlights include one of the largest firework displays in Scotland, the Christmas Lights Switch On and the Food & Craft Weekend.
In September 2017 Dunfermline Delivers worked closely with local partners to launch the new annual Outwith Arts Festival. The Outwith programme for 2017 included international artist, and Turner-prize nominee, David Mach; author events by Richard Jobson, Alan Bissett, Isla Dewar and Angela Jackson; and Comedy in the Dark, innovative comedy from London's South Bank. Over 35 bands featured in the live music line up at venues throughout the city centre such as Harlem, Lourenzos, The Canmore and the Royal British Legion. For the first time an outdoor stage at the gap site featured live bands throughout the Saturday during the Festival.
2018 saw the Festival move to 5 days, doubling in size in terms of performances with extra venues becoming part of the event.
After many years the Glen Pavilion outdoor stage came back to life in 2018 with a Gala Performance by the Scottish Philharmonic Big Band. An estimated crowd of 2,000 people watched an inspiring performance of Love Hurts by Nazareth’s Dan McCafferty. Other highlights included an orchestral rendition of Big Country’s It’s a Big Country plus movie scores from the James Bond films.
